This four minute video shows a short session with a scalar field visualization and manipulation tool produced for the company Tecwel. The type of visualization and processing shown strains the computing resources of a desktop computer. This particular type of application will benefit greatly from a combination of OpenMP and GPGPU techniques (for instance using the HPMC library) to fully utilize the computational resources on a desktop computer system, perhaps consisting of a multi-core CPU and a strongly pipelined and parallel graphics card.
